Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be a t-shirt for this event? Yes! We will get a special Coolmax style racing jersey designed and produced in a very noticable color and make it available to everyone well before race day (you don't want to experiment with new clothing on race day). Odds are we'll get a cotton style t-shirt to match for supporters.

Is there going to be any kind of a class dinner along with this event? Yes! We are planning (ok, we will be planning) a pasta dinner and class event during the evenings(s) prior to the Sunday race. No details yet. If you have any ideas for speakers or special guests we could invite to a pre-race dinner, please forward to Dave or Jeff.

Are there any training groups planned? Many classmates are located in the DC area and the suggestion has already been made to establish a weekend long-run group. Consider using this blog as a means to organizing group runs.

Do we have any coaching assistance? While there is a ton of marathon training information all over the Internet, we do have a very special volunteer coach dedicated to this event. This gentleman is currently forward deployed at an undisclosed location, but pledges to get some information together at the earliest opportunity (he'll have limited connectivity for the next six weeks). His immediate advice is quite simple - just get out there and run at least a few miles several times a week. So who's the coach? Hint #1 - He's a past winner of the Marine Corps Marathon. Hint #2 - He's our classmate.

Run To Honor Event and Race Registration

To help with headcount and planning for this event, please follow these steps:

Step 1 - Please go this Evite to register for the event. By doing so, you are registering with the '95 organizers. This will give us indicative head counts and ensure that you are included on future email communications. We will use this blog as a communications medium but will send out periodic emails as well.

Step 2 - Don't forget to register for the race if you haven't already! Online race registration for the marathon is closed, but you can still register by printing out this brochure. The Marine Corps Marathon race director has allocated 100 starting slots to the Class of '95 for this effort. Your completed application and entry fee must be received by the Marathon by August 1st. During the marathon there is also a 10k, and that registration open until October 14th here.

The marathon slots are available to members, family, and invited friends of USNA '95 only. If you are not one of those people, have stumbled along this site, and are thinking about registering under our banner, think again!

For questions about the event, contact Dave Richardson @ dkrclub34@hotmail.com or Jeff Webb @ jeffrwebb@gmail.com.

The 95 for '95....Run To Honor

The 95 for '95...Run To Honor has been initiated by members of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1995 as a means to honor fallen comrades. Many '95ers will gather in Washington D.C. on October 28th, 2007 to run the Marine Corps Marathon as an expression of love and respect for their hero classmates who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We are eternally grateful to these brave souls and the families that remain behind.

The names of these heroes are
Doug Zembiec, Megan McClung, Erik Kristensen, Rich Pugh, Bruce Donald, and Brendan Duffy.

The original objective was to gather at least 95 members of the class of '95, a goal that seems more likely every day.

This blog will be used to provide all event information by organizers but is open to eveyone to create other posts about training tips, training groups, stories, questions, suggestions, gripes, rides, rooms, shoe tips, pictures, jokes, or anything else your heart desires.
