Dinner Update & Thursday Reception

In response to a number of questions from previous communications, here are some answers. If you are still wondering about anything, now is the time to ask so we can get the information to everyone. Expect to see one or two more updates. Thank you for all of the suggestions, help, and enthusiasm!

More Dinner Details:
Some final details about the pre-race dinner. The dinner will be at 1900 (7 PM) at the N* room of Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. The formal program will begin at 7PM and last no more than 30 mins. Then we'll open it up to a buffet-style pasta-load dinner, and there will be a cash bar. We have the room until 2300 (11 PM), but we certainly understand that many who are running will need to depart to get some rest for the next morning's run.

The dinner will be simple, casual, and a family-style atmosphere. Many have asked about the proper dress. We are describing this as "football casual", as the intent of many in our group is to go from the football game to tailgaters and then to this dinner. Jeans and other football-game type wear are certainly appropriate. Kids of all ages are welcome and eat free.

Parking: Parking at the stadium is already paid for, so just let them know that you are there for the Run To Honor dinner and you will not have to pay for parking. Park on the Navy side of the stadium. The entrance to the N*room will be clearly marked with a "Run To Honor" banner. When you enter the room, there will be a table set up with dinner programs, nametags, race-packet pick-up, and additional info for marathon runners describing last-minute details and transportation.

RSVP: We owe final numbers to the catering department by Tuesday, 23 October. Final sign-up day for the dinner is Monday, 22 October (email jeffrwebb@gmail.com or dkrclub34@hotmail.com). The number attending for the dinner is approaching 300, and the room holds much more than that, so please let us know as soon as you can if there are additional people interested. We know some Classmates and friends are just finding out about this, and we certainly want to include them if they are able to attend.

USAA Reception: USAA is the lead sponsor of the Marine Corps Marathon this year. They also sponsored the Marathon Forward in Iraq last year, which was led by Megan McClung. USAA has decided to host a reception on the Thursday prior to the race to recognize the efforts of the group and honor the individuals we run for. Legislators from all of the districts of our fallen classmates are being invited as well leaders of military support organizations, and possibly some active duty military brass. Press will also be present.

The USAA invite is be posted below. If you live in the area, stop by if you can. Business attire will be the dress. We are appreciative that USAA has reached out to us on this and hope you can make it.
